Took the day off to finally try to fire the 550KO project (6 mos work down to the bare frame and back on a $100 barn bike). Carbs were so nasty that I never started it before I tore it down. Had to steal the tank from the 75 since the original hasn't been painted yet. Hooked up the fuel lines, put some gas in, punched the button, and it started like it ran yesterday! It's a little rich and the cam chain needs adjusted, but it runs like a top. Went to see an old family friend (who still kicks ass in AMA Vintage Dirt Track at 69 yrs old, won 1st in class at Fremont last week) who just opened a bike shop and made an appointment to have carbs synched for next week. Came home and my dondirtbiker paint kit was on the porch (sunrise orange). Looks like a really nice kit down to the mixing cups and stir sticks. Anyone have any tricks on painting candy that is not included in the instructions?
