My Dad said there was one of those that sat in Wichita for a few months after someone landed and couldn't afford the needed repairs and it was abandoned. No telling what happened with it.

Amazing picture and aircraft! My great Uncle Don was a mechanic on them in WW2, with VMA-214. Till the day he died he carried around a picture he took of Pappy Boyington in the cockpit while they were in the Phillippines.

This one is based in Masterton (New Zealand). About an hours ride from home.
Shares a hanger with a P40 and some older stuff like this for example

Oh yeah, I think the thunderbolt is the one that would come in and help when Dad was in a pinch on the ground.  I bet he thought they were beautiful a few times.

I love the Corsair and the Thunderbolt. I have never seen a Bearcat in person but they did have a record attempt in one during the 1950's where it almost broke the sound barrier in a dive.
One that I have seen in person that sounds totally different than anything else is the Hawker Sea Fury they have two double wasp radial engines for a total of 32 cylinders.

Yeah, that Bearcat was the only one I've ever seen in person.
Awesome prop plane, arrived too late for the war. They were used in Korea a bit. There's not many left flying I'm sure.

I found it on a Voit site in the past but cannot find it now.
