Lancaster, B17, SR71, Lightning, Starfighter. :)
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Did you go to the Willow Run air show a couple of years ago when all the B-17's were flying?

Now if they were buried somewhere in the Sahara, that would be one thing. Burma sounds a bit moist, wonder what kind of shape these remains are in.  ???

Sounds like they were still in the crates.  Quote: There they have lain for 67 years, protected by tar seals and grease, steadily accumulating in value, just waiting for someone to find them and dig them up.

Ah, this will be interesting. Thanks. Now, if they could find a batch of P-38's (my personal favorite), they would have something.  ;D

I did. As I recall, it started as a joint venture. Getting it up out of the ice proved more difficult than they thought. Members wanted out and one fellow bought them out. In the end, getting it out and restoring it cost a staggering amount of $$. I guess when you have more money than you know what to do with, this is one of the things you do with it.  ::)

Yeah, that's a Hawker Hurricane not a Spitfire.  The Spitfire got the glory but the more numerous Hurricane bore the brunt of the Battle of Britain.

I love this story, but I sure hope they did a better waterproofing job than the Tulsa folks who buried a Plymouth in 1957:

Where you come from is gone.
Where you thought you were going to, weren't never there.
And where you are ain't no good, unless you can get away from it.

Junkers Ju 52 above.  There is one locally at the trimotor museum but it is in pieces undergoing major restoration.

Bob, Have you ever visited or heard of the Richard Bong Museum?  Top scoring ace of WW2, flew a P-38.  Wife and I saw the original museum in Poplar, WI.  The new one is in Superior, WI.

The buried Spitfires may soon see the light of day.  The article says there may be up to 60 of them.

I almost thought that was a myth until I read that yesterday. Cool stuff. I hope the Paul Allen museum gets one of the spitfires. All of his planes are fly-able.

Some of the RAF's most well known pilots flew Hurris: Stanford-Tuck, Lacey, Bader.
