First start for CB750 rebuild?
« on: June 10, 2006, 08:53:14 AM »
After several months spending far too much time in the garage, my 77 CB750 F1 is ready (I think!) to start.  I have installed new CR carbs and a new exhaust but otherwise have not touched the motor since it was running 4 months ago with the previous owner.   I am not driving it at this time, just hoping to get the motor running.  What is the best starting procedure in this case?  Are there any danger signs I should be looking for when trying to start it?

Are you experienced at carb tuning as those CR's will most probably need some tweaking. Are you running them with individual filters?

MRieck - I am running them with K&N pod filters and a Kerker with 1.5" competition baffle.  I have no idea about carb tuning - I ordered them from Dynoman and the owner said he would pre-jet them as close as possible to match the setup.  I am just hoping the bike will run and then I can worry about the tuning!

Last thing to do was mount the old petcock on the new tank and hook up the fuel lines but the petcock size is different between the 75-76 and 77-78 CB750 F1!  A new petcock is on its way.  First start for the rebuild project delayed again...
