Just need some closure.. CB550
« on: May 03, 2012, 02:56:13 PM »
Got myself a '77 CB550K (that I'd like to keep as original as possible) with a few issues to deal with but right now i need someone to clarify something for me please.

When I began disassembling the carbs to clean them out, I realized the PO had replaced one Float Bowl with a float bowl from some other model. I went ahead and ordered a replacement Float Bowl for my year/make/model from Powersedge.

Well it came in today and now I got another float bowl that's slightly different than the matching 3 original float bowls and the other odd ball.

The attached photo shows what the original float bowls look like (number 1), the new float bowl that claims to be OEM from powersedge.com (number 2) and the float bowl that came with my carbs but obviously doesn't match (number 3).

The circled area is the obvious tell for the differences but I'd just like someone to clarify that a more recently manufactured float bowl would look like number 2 and it should work just fine...or is it too odd or definitely wrong.

PS - in any case if someone out there knows which model the other float bowl is for (number 3), i'll gladly sell it if someone needs it.

That's going to be covered up by a drain hose.  Just by quickly glancing at it, if the bowl itself seats up and doesn't leak I would use the one you ordered, put the drain hoses on, and ride.

Exactly.
And use black hoses so you do not see it.
Put one on each side of the bike. Ot put both of them in the center. Hard to see.
No big deal.
