Get yourself a catch can from Summit Racing. Part # SUM-G1474 for $16.95. Get a 1 1/4" rubber bung from the hardware store. Drill a hole in the center of the bung for a vent. I added a vinyl tube. Remove the rubber vent that comes with the catch can from the top and enlarge the hole to accept the bung. Add some fuel line to the bottom along with an inline fuel filter. Sacrifice a coat hanger to add to the mount bolts on the side for a hook. Hang from ceiling, add fuel, and sync your carbs because they need it!

If it comes with a rubber vent already installed, by bother with the bung? Doesn't vent fast enough?

I must admit, I ordered it. Looked pretty cool and very clean to use.... I was a person who had an extended fuel hose and I always worried the tank would fall. Thanks for the lead on this.

Yup, but they are $40 to $50. This is my cheaper alternative.

Here is my almost free set up from miscellaneous parts culled from the shop and a length of fuel line I bought. I drilled a hole at the bottom of the tank and J B Welded a brass bung threaded into the plastic (I actually tapped the plastic and then coated everything with the J B and threaded it in. I even added a spring for strain relief! lol It has now held up for like 5 years.) I need to add a valve still though, I just clamp the fuel line for now for crude on/off action.

The leaf-blower gas tank came from my weirdo tweaker neighbor, who was always collecting and stripping all sorts of junk and stuff. I traded a 40oz. of cheap beer for it, if I recall.....lol. He was annoying as heck but I did score numerous odd ball parts and tools from him and his "scrapping" endeavors, in trade for cheap beer.

ive been hoping to find a suitable tank on an old mower at the dump for ages!

I found a really neat one, my neighbor had some parts come down from the Artic.. had a non working Honda generator that was taken apart. He was scrapping the parts he did not want. So I took the gas and put in my 750..then I stripped off all the really nice flexy Honda OEM gas line to use, and kept the tank. Funny shape, but very heavy duty, and has a gas line bung, and vented cap.. plus its Honda made.. looks like you can run a car over it.. and drop it without damge.. cept maybe if it landed on the hose bung.
Gotta be some of them around..

No pictures .... but I went to a local "Mom and Pop" small engine mower repair. The guy had a mountain of old mowers, weed wackers, etc... in a heap. I had my pick of the "Litter". I used some Alabama heavy duty adhesive bonding material (Duct-tape) to purty it up a bit, a coat hanger here some bungee cord there. I found an old petcock on a trashed tank a few feet of hose and there you go....

I have since made some modifications.... I put in a sight tube and racing stripes....

I bought this and tried to use it this previous weekend. Maybe I got a bad one but it sucked! Leaked all over from the bottom. Wasn't able to be used. I will have to contact them.

I am sure they will swap it out. It is leaking from the bottom rubber gasket and the brass nipple. Even closed it leaks from the brass. I did multiple positions but same thing.

Cool use of the battery acid jug. Just make sure its well rinsed and neturalized. Do need to add a vent to it so you don't get a vacuum lock on the gas flow.

Here is the list of parts you will need:
1- 5/16" Hose ID, 1/4" NPT Male Barb Hose/Tubing Fitting Connector

1- 5/16” Hose Adapter/Coupler

1- 1/4 NPT Brass Fitting, Coupler Male

1- 1/4" NPT Female Brass Mini Ball inline Valve,

3- Feet of 5/16 clear hose

1- Aluminum water bottle

I have the old lawn mower tank setup too.
We had a dump day in town where people get rid of their old furniture and appliances. I was dropping off an old chair, saw the pile of broken lawn mowers and snagged me a gas tank.
Paid $2 for a shut off valve at the local parts store. Some extra gas line and done.
