Topic: are cb750 engines painted?

I'm cleaning/prepping my engine for paint and I'm noticing on the fins especially it appears paint is flaking off. I thought these motors were just raw aluminum stock. They are painted then?

Painted.  Not raw aluminum.

AH JEEZ. How am I supposed to deal with the flaking off now? I can't possibly sand all that off

Blast it. And the covers are not painted, came from the factory with a clear coat.

Ah that's not really in the budget for this bike....I'm just gonna clean it up the best I can and blast it with the engine paint
