I have an old Volvo 240 that is able to take lot's of abuse and still hold together.I treat it good though and it rewards me w/ dependable operation.

What was volvos old moto at some point in the 60-70's, "Drive it like you hate it" haha. 240's are some of the toughest cars around, love my 82 242glt to death but I drive it hard and it never disapoints me. I do maintain it on the regular though.

    I have an M46 aluminum case 4 spd. w/ electronic OD & shifter I'm trying to sell that came out of an 86' 740GL Turbo.The car had only 51K on it NO BULL,if you know anybody who wants one,it's mint.I have my M47II 5 speed and it's been real good for me;I keep it slightly overfilled w/ Amsoil.

All depends on how I get on with my son's GSXR250 I am working on for sale, if that goes and the second GSXR250R is an easy fix/finish I will def look at the 900, hey if it looks too much work I can always get $150 worth of parts from it. :)
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Tomorrow is "D" day for those carbs, this will be the 10th time I've pulled them and they ain't going back on until they don't leak!
First day off all week, looks like rain so could be a garage day. ;)

Actually old Volvo's and CB900's are a good comparison. Nobody really wants them, they don't do anything particularly well and they'll never be collectable, but if you can get past all that and you just want cheap transport, they're OK.

Ford Explorers, on the other hand Rick, had one bad model and the Ford Explorer fans will say that the "Exploder" tag was a fault of the tires, and not the car. My oldest son killed the first three cars I bought him (two Aussie Fords and a Toyota) but he's had an '02 Exploder V6 for four years now, and as much as he's tried to kill it, it's still going well, and I actually like driving it.

Not worth a crap as an off road 4X4 workhorse, but as a really comfy SUV, as good, or better than most of it's competitors of the era. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Haha, anyone that actually likes driving a ford explorer needs to have their head checked. Cb750's and old Volvo's have alot in common Terry, both are tough as nails and properly maintained will run forever. I won't hold it against you though ;)

Haha, anyone that actually likes driving a ford explorer needs to have their head checked. Cb750's and old Volvo's have alot in common Terry, both are tough as nails and properly maintained will run forever. I won't hold it against you though ;)

Ha ha, no worries mate, I don't like "Faux" 4WD's and the "Exploder" falls into that category, but to be fair to it, it's survived my son's "aint gonna happen" approach to maintenance, so it's earned my respect. The Volvo's toughness is to a degree exaggerated, I worked at a gas station for years and my boss repaired a lot of Volvo's, the 4 bangers weren't bad, but the V6's ate cams and drank oil, and were enormously expensive to repair.

Many customers were horrified when my boss quoted them for the repairs to their Volvo's, and one repaired car sat at the back of the gas station for over a year because the owner decided that it was better to abandon the car than pay for the repairs, eventually the engine came out to repair another smoked Volvo. Not the worst car on the planet, but not perfect. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Yeah I hear you on that, the 4 cyl red blocks are tough as nails. B18 all the way up to the B230ft, the 6 cyl are not so hot. The diesel was the worst, total pos...

My first 240 had almost 500,000 on it when I scrapped it due to rust and wiring harnes nightmares, the motor ran like a top. All I ever did was change the oil regularly, it never gave me problems.

Yea life has been a lil hectic lately...hopefully I will be back more often since I will have another cb soon...granted it will be a dohc...but a cb none the less!

Seen an exploder on the road tipped over and on fire before.

Had a volvo (142 wagon I beleive) an early '70s  vintage,  the phenolic timing gears fall apart eventually, hard to get, and cost more than the car.   Had about $200 into it before I heard it ran, $40 I think I paid to haulit off.  Fuel injection gets old, injectors drip leak instead of spray so it was a hard starter.  Body was a cool original and rust free. Traded it off, or just found a place to park it where we towed a Ranger off from.

Looking at a  '77 dated (78 model?) 900c abandoned along with a 450 c from the '80's parted out.  Might e able to remove them from an abandoned house.
