Pulling wires through clubman bars
« on: May 04, 2012, 05:35:37 PM »
Is there some trick to this that I don't know about?  I can't for the life of me get the thick bundle of wires on the clutch side to go around the sharp bend inside the clubman bars.  And nothing I can attach to the end of the wires to help pull them through is strong enough or attached well enough to help me assist in pulling the wires through.  Any help would be appreciated!

do what i did bet my son 10.00 that there is no way in hell he could get those wires through there well about 45 minutes later he comes in and says pay up and both of us walked away mumbling sucker. i found out he used dish soap taped up the wires real tight with black tape with a piece of bailing wire in it. make sure that you taper the end to a point they are even worse when taking them out mine where in there for about 5-6 years i took them out a couple of weeks ago went with drag bars instead and it was very difficult pulling the wires out.i guess from sitting in there and the heat and age stiffended them up
I've done a lot of things in my life that I'm not proud of...and the things I AM proud of, "are disgusting"

Try some aqua gel cable pulling lube.

Petroleum may soften the insulation, soap or real wire pulling gel is best.

When I worked as a commercial electrician we carried around 5 gallon buckets of this stuff-  I always said when putting it back in the van, "looks like 3.5 gallons of fun left!"  :P  If you can't find the gel, most home stores sell the ideal brand pulling soap- it's good stuff too.

Aside from the soap, I like to make a 'cone' on the end, where each bullet is just behind the other, so it's smaller..  then tape 'em together that way.

I have also painted the inside before pulling the wire. The paint makes a little smoother and keep it from rusting.
