Should I get it? All original. 13,000 miles. Strong compression. Kicks over smoothly. Paint is good, but not perfect. Seat is shot. No pics. Lemme get your thoughts. Sorry no pIcs although I did post one a year ago of it. I'll try to find the post later.

Literal barn find!!!!

I'm thinking $2500 to $3500 offer.

It'll be my first 750.

I have to agree start lower and see what his response is. One thing to consider when buying CB750s is location prices vary greatly depending on location. Things are much higher in California than the Midwest. The first question I would want to know is when was the bike last run? Being a barn find and having sit since the last episode of Buck Rogers and the 21st century there is a good chance you will have some pitted / rust valves and or seats. There is a guy I am familiar with who is selling a 69/70 KO on Ebay and the bids are up to 1,800 or so and it has a head gasket leak in the pictures.

The question to ask your self is do you want the oldest CB750 you can find, or do you want one that is a runner. I would not drop 3K on a non runner unless it is a Sandcast.

Green backs talk. Show up with $1500 cash in hand. Keep another $500-$1000 ($250 in each of your 4 pockets) stowed away in case he doesn't take the initial offer. Stress to him that your cash in hand is better than a CL or Ebay sale any day of the week.... no risks, no online transactions, no weirdo's showing up for a test ride.

I'd also start at $1500 but bring some back up cash. 1969/1970 models aren't getting cheaper, so if your going to do it, do it now. Before you go see it, call and ask the guy if he has an idea of what he wants. He might say $500 or $5000. Good luck.

Pick it apart...rust on forks, this and that,tires. Acknowlege the faults and costs of say for instance chroming or replacing forks. Give him a liberal figure for what you got to dump into it. Then lowball him and come up a bit.

My old apartment in SF had two classic mustangs in the garage...rusting away. One coupe and one fastback. What a waste.

Okay, I'm thinking about renting a truck in a couple weeks and going to buy a cb750. It isn't on craigslist either.

Think a bit about this;
A few times over the years, I have been on here, members have had a chance to buy early 750s.. a lot of them for whatever reasons chose not to.. I bet 80 % of them went on to regret it.. and I bet almost as many never got that close to ever being able to get another chance, and if they did it was probably higher priced. They got nowhere to go but up, and it is coming soon..

Worth thinking about..

What 754 said, you don't get many do overs with these bikes, ask what he wants, if it's a fair price pay the owner and be very happy you have a complete (need pics) low number CB750. There's been a number of threads like this and the op lost out only to regret it. If his price is beyond what you think is resonable or can afford then you have a decision to make. He has the bike that is in good to high demand, who has the advantage here? That's just me and I am crazy for early Cb750's - sometimes it's not about the money.

A big 10-4 on what you just said! These bikes are getting fewer and far between and if it is anywhere close to what your looking for and the price is anywhere close to what you can swing snatch it up and bring it home. Stop talking about should I or shouldn't I, what about this, what about that. While your trying to figure it out someone else will be loading it up on there trailer and putting it in there garage. And make sure you show up with not only the cash, but a trailer too. He will know you are serious and if he wants it gone he will be looking to see you load it up that day. Be sure to check the numbers on the title to be sure they match the bike. Can not wait to see some pics...
