Pod part numbers please
« on: May 05, 2012, 07:28:01 PM »
I have a 77 550K with PD46A carbs that I am about to reassemble.  I went to my friendly auto parts place, with my carbs and said "I need K&N pods to fit these babies"

Buddy quickly broke out in a rash, stuttered something about having to order anything that might fit and then gave me a look like "Please go away unless you need a fanbelt for a 2010 Chev pickup".   ::)  Finally after some prodding, he did try briefly to do his job by fanning the pages of various parts catalogs.  But it didn't take him long to resort back to "I dare you to make me do my job" by saying "...if you could find out what part number you need.."  :'(

OK, ok, I know who to ask..  ;)  Help me guys, please!  The carb choke end is 1.5 inches or 38 millimeters in diameter.  The max diameter can be 3 inches or just fractionally bigger.  With those size restrictions, I doubt I will have a length issue.  Please someone give me a K&N pod part number or competitive brand & number.

Perhaps I should have said they are a sort of general over-the-road vehicle & industrial supply, and specifically -  They are a K&N supplier.

Update

I found that K&N has an easy to use online search process including search by dimension to get a part number.  So far the best I can find is an RC-2314 by dimension or an RC-0844 which is the recommended 550F item.  They don't have specific 550K item.

The one thing K&N does not specify is 'inbuilt stacks' that Retro Rocket mentioned, which I assume are like a velocity stack.  Does anyone know what brand has this feature?
