Seriously, as mentioned earlier stretching a grip with both the interior and the tube it goes over will work well. It will creep down a bit and twist over time and need to be re stretched. At some point they will need replacement.
Hairspray is a fairly mild adhesive and over time the grip will move but take longer to do it. It is easy to clean off when replacing the grip. An aggressive adhesive may work longer but make replacement and cleaning much harder.

'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Some tubes may be, but certainly not all.  I believe most of mine are a nylon derivative.  But, unless both your grips and the tube ARE PVC, you'll only be half right with the glue.  Better than nothing, I suppose. ;D

So, I stop by Cycle Gear for a pair of grips for my K8 today, as both of them will rotate.
The guy at the checkout asks if I need some glue? Told him no...and thought of his thread.

There is a really good alternative to people calling each other names and being pissy. If you want to see if you need to glue down your grips. Put them on and see of they slip. If they do glue them, if not just ride on.

No one can tell you what is right or wrong since there are so many grips of various styles, materials, and even production tolerances it is probably not possible to state absolutes.

If it don;t slip, don;t glue it. If it does, glue it. Seems simple huh?

Yep, good advice.  On my Honda CBX 1000 & Kawasaki H1A 500 the grips don't slip, therefore they are not glued.  On my Honda 350/4 and Morini 3 1/2 Sport the grips slip, therefore they are glued.

I did not like the inference that I'm an idiot for using Honda Handgrip Cement.  I've tried many things to hold loose grips, and most of the things suggested in this thread work, for a while, then the grips start to "creep".  The Honda Handgrip Cement is the best thing I've ever tried.  It is designed specifically to glue rubber type handgrips to PVC-type throttle tubes.

And where the heck did you get this quote from?  The David Silver website states:

Well it seems we have settled this. Now we can all get a grip.  ;D

This is what I use: P-80 Emulsion. It is an industrial strength rubber assembly lube. You smear a small amount on the rubber and it acts like grease; the grips slide on like they've been lubed. However, after a short while ranging from a few minutes to a couple of hours it looses its lubricative qualities and the grip (or whatever) sticks like it's been glued (which the original grips were not, BTW  ;D  ). Highly recommended as it is specifically designed for rubber installation applications.

Pantene is my grip goo of choice, nabbed it from my wifeys "beauty cabinet"

The grips on my K8 were old and loose, picked up some Pro Grips, put a little hair goo on 'em and they slip right on. Done!

Looks like you had a tough time getting those grips to go on Stev-o. I see you has to take the seat off first.
