Topic: Need the correct adhesive

I cut the hole to large for my 550 seat... Its a 2" hole where the taillight comes with a 2" gromet... Not sure if thats what its called but is not the right fit now... I was told by the person at Home depot the plastic adhesive from loctite. I taped it over 2 days to assist with the bond. Removed it today and it didn't work. Some help as to how I can get it to fit properly and proper adhesive.

If the hole is oversize, see if you can find some reducers used  for electrical boxes that are the right size.  Use two, one each side with the new rubber grommet.  If it's under the seat it should be fine, use a little silicone as a sealer if necessary.

go to an autobody supply shop...3m makes some amazing adhesives that are only available through them...they even make one for installing automotive body patch  panels with no welding involved...tell the guys there what you are trying to do and they may be able to sort you out...

I have the wires running under the seat. Only problem is the hole is about 1/4" to big... I can push the grommet flush and cover up the hole but the adhesive I have blows...

3m makes a very good adhesive i used on my side panle tab that broke off and it's been holding for 2yrs now it's called 3m structural adhesive tube kit part no.051135 08101 is what's printed on the box it's a bit pricey 26.00 here where i'm at,but well worth it

I use a product called Tigerseal or Sikaflex, it's great for many uses. I used Tigerseal to put skirts on my car. It comes in various colours.

The light and grommet are made for large over the road trucks. That grommet should hold the light in place just fine, if you cut the hole to the right size.

The grommet holds the light perfect. It was the cut in the seat that was to large.

Go back to trucker supply and find a bigger one.

The Silkaflex is a one-part urethane and would have been my suggestion. Holds paint extremely well also.

Ah so true, actually cut three times to be safe. Got the light to function properly.. I did order the adhesive but now thinking about it I am going to contact the distributor to see if they have a larger light. God sometimes implulsiveness is not wise. Anyone want to buy some expensive glue?
