81 CB650 petcock replacement
« on: May 08, 2012, 09:41:25 AM »
The petcocks I see forsale are about $65-80. Is there a cheaper option or one from a different bike I can use?

I could probably rebuild mine, but the inlet screen is broken and removed an I can't find those for sale separately.

I saw one that was a universal replacement that had NPT threads that you bought with an adapter to fit the male threaded tank bung but the company was in Canada and not in stock.

I think when I looked around, I found aftermarket ones pretty easily.  I'll look around after lunch...  One from an '80 won't fit, I know that much...

So far I have found 3 diff thread sizes for the 650 petcocks so be carefull what you order.  None of my 81's (4) have the screen your describing.  My 82 does though.
