Best color?

Without a doubt the pain that Honda used on the SOHC bikes was stunning.  Bright candy colors at a time when Detroit was going the way of green, brown and tan.

In your opinion, what was the best color that Honda offered?  For me I think it's Gold and in second place was the Orange.  I love both of those colors.

The orange on the CB550Ks, the red on the 76 CB750K, the bright red on the 75 CB360T, the purple on the 73 CB350G.

I think the purple is my favorite...

the green on my 1975 550K is my fav.  fell in love with it the very second i saw it.  i can only imagine what it looked like new!   :)

of course, green is just my favorite color anyways... lol.  but i appreciate all of the honda colors!  the candies are especially stunning.

That light candy blue..,what's the name of that? Candy Aluetion Blue? that came on the 69' CB750KO and the Original green as mentioned earlier that came on the CB550K0.  ;)

LesterPiggy, I don't think that's the stock paint.  The flake looks a bit too big, not to mention the stripe is missing.  Still a nice color though.   I seem to flip flop on favorite colors lately.  The early 550 metallic Jade green is very nice, as well as the 750s Sunburst orange.  However I recently came across a K1 that was Valley Green and I love it!  Must be a one- or two-year color as I'd probably seen it once or twice.  If I get a 750 it's gonna be this color or it's getting painted. :)

That Japanese market color purple is Beautiful..Dark Purple,& that's what I thought was the original color such as kirkn mentioned on the 73' CB350G..,but the CB350 he posted looked a bit faded compared to this color;I just thought that the CB350G had this darker color originally... ???

I love purple BUT, the first time I had my Harley painted purple with ghost flames it came back fuchsia with purple flames.  Fuchsia is just another way to say PINK!!  The next time I had a bike painted purple I went for a deeper purple.  It came back cobalt blue.  It looked great but it was not purple.  It also took months to get it done so a reshoot was out of the question.

Both times I wanted a dark purple.  Like a metallic eggplant.  I guess I must be color blind and cant pick paint.  The samples look right but the end product is wrong.  the last car I did over, I wanted to paint it blue.  I would buy a pint, bring it to the body shop and they would shoot a test panel.  Each time I thought I had the right color, as soon as I saw the test panel I knew I had it wrong.  I did this at least 10 times.  that is 10 pints of paint wasted.  I ended up having it painted black!!

wow Magilla, that's crazy.  what a bummer!  what i don't get is how you see purple when you buy it but not after it's sprayed?  maybe a lighting issue.  fluorescent lights make colors look different than natural sunlight.

CycleRanger has got it right. ;)

My favorite purple is the one Schwinn used and called Violet as seen on this 1967 Stingray below. Actually, all the Schwinn candy colors of the era really stood out more so than the Honda candy colors. The Schwinn secret was using a bright aluminum base coat which really made their candy colors “pop” in the sunlight. Honda used a less reflective silver base coat.

That yellow one in the background looks like a Schwinn "Lemon Peeler" w/ the springer front fork and the drum front brake..,it came w/ a 5 speed. I had one.

My side covers were redone and or replaced, I can see the original color on the back.  The darker blue is a poor match and I can't figure out  the PO's reasons to repaint them. I found one side cover with matching original color.The paint on the tank  is in pretty good shape, except the tank has a couple krinks by the head tube and a few wavy spots. I saw a really nice one with the same paint on e-bay but snoozed through the closing bids.

Either way, I like this blue, not sure the color code or name.
