It is supposed to slip out, just needs some liquid wrench, wd40 or the like.  That cable looked familiar because it's the one that ended up working, so it's on the bike.  Here are the ones I've got left over.  Top one is a throttle, but it was hard to find, and they're fragile, so I know I'll need it in the future (why I bought two.)

Greggo.
Good call Sam.  I knew the American models were more powerful.  However, I didn't know they were so different.  Aside from the jet size differences, I'd like to know the difference between the CA95, and CB95's..

Gregg, the CB95 is a completley different bike but has the parts that I mentioned that sets the CA95 apart from the C95.
In a nutshell, the CB95 is a sports bike, the C95 is the touring version. The CA95 is a tourer with the same performance (motor wise) enhancing parts as the sports model.

Sam. ;)

What weight engine oil would you recommend? The book says straight 30w motorcycle oil but I haven't seen that for years. There's lawnmower/small engine oil at that weight but that doesn't seem right. I was thinking 15-40 for the first start up. Thanks, Cliff.

20/50 for summer and 15/40 for winter if you do any riding.
Chainging the oil every couple of hundred miles make these motors last, don't forget to clean the filter as well.

Thanks Sam. Is it my imagination or are the phillips head screws on these bikes softer than most or true JIS screw heads? Jeez they strip oit easy. Cliff.

I don't do authentic or tradition, all my cross heads are swaped out for stainless allen heads with a smear of anti seize compound on the threads.
One of the most important to replace if you have an early CA95 with the tach drive is the top internal screw.
Because you can't see it, its a bugger to get out without damaging the threads in the hole that you are working through, so replace with allen head even if you don't do the rest to keep the motor looking authentic, it can't be seen.

It runs! I cleaned the carb and had the idle way to high, that and broken handlebars had it go to 5000 rpm or more I'm sure. Sounds like a loose cam chain too. Now at least I know the motor runs.
First start
I played with the carb a bit and it settled down nicely. Cliff.

I have three parts bikes coming in Cliff, all small Dream bikes, so I may be able to get you all the parts you need.  Except those chain, and carburetor covers.  Those are almost always gone, and have to be sought specifically.

Cliff, would I be right in thinking you already have a C95 ?
This one looks to be from the Asian market.
All C95s in the west have finned cam covers with 4 screw fixing.
The tail light assembly on this one is also different.

Sam. ;)

Saw this posting with comments from Sam a few days ago.  Not to start any disputes, but the comments about the C95s sold in the west aren't correct according to my experience.  In Canada, the ones from around that time (mid 60's) did NOT have finned cam covers, and the tail light assembly looked like what is showing on yours.  My younger brother bought a new one in 1965, and looking at pictures of it confirm these facts.  I also currently have a 1965 example (that came from Quebec) and it also has the same features.  Sorry Sam, maybe in your west they were different, but here in Canada they were like that...at least the two I personally have had experience with.

Interestingly though, the sales brochures show them different (like Sam says) in their pictures.

Not a problem Bobby, I was only going off what I have seen.
Most of the Asian models do have the no fin covers but certainly not all.
I even have a UK motor with no fins on the chain side cover but finned on the other side.
Honda were notorious for using the parts bin method of building, fit whatever will fit if need be. ;D
A friend of mine has a CB92 that he has had from new. It has the wrong kick start and gear change shafts and coresponding covers. If he was to try to sell it, anyone with knowledge would say it was a cocked up motor and not buy it.
The 3 fixing cover on the right hand side of the cam is completely new to me.

Hey Cliff.  If that's you in the video then you're keeping your age well for a man who was able to buy a k1 new.  Must be that clean living in paradise.  ;)

Good luck with the rest of the project.
