Long time between posts however I have become reinvigorated and working at the paint prep. Lots of prep necessary as the previous owner brushed on some paint that's a bugger to get off.

More and had to build up the area under the fuel petcock. Lots of pitting there. Cliff.

Yes. I started with a beat to death red CA95 that a woman gave me . It is a mess. I found a parts bike that was better than my project bike and it was complete so I switched projects. I'll do this one and then perhaps do the red one up too. I have a pair of CB750 K1's so a pair of CA95'S would look good with them. I will need a lot of difficult to find parts for the red one. Pardon the possible silly question...but what did you build it up with? Solder? Those engines are eye candy!

I'm trying JB Weld. It has worked well in other applications so I will use it and report the results back here. I did use silver solder to plug a small hole beside the fuel tap. Clif

I used JB Weld on my '80 CB650 that was weeping around the petcock base and it lasted from 2002 - 2015 when I sold it...and at that time it was still holding with no indication of issue.

It's a good product. I was a bit ham fisted taking the fuel tap off a 750 fuel tap and used JB there too and it worked well. Cliff.

Want to buy my 65 Magpie. I also have gathered a lot of parts to rebuild her. Need to inventory it all to refresh failing braincells. I have been out of work for quite a while and medical issues have kept me out. Needing to thin the proj backlog and recoup money.

Hi David! Thanks for the offer but I have too many things on the go right now and we live a long ways apart. I live in Victoria, BC at the southern tip of Vancouver island. I think the shipping costs would be a killer for a full bike. However you could send me a list of extra parts you have to chalayko@shaw.ca just in case. I am going to need a set of handlebars and a chain guard at the very least for the other one I have.

Today was gas tank day. The black one I wanted to use leaked at the fuel tap so I used some JB Weld to smooth the area around the tap but it still leaked so I will have to work on that some more. The tank that came with the red bike I originally was going to restore was tucked away under the work bench. I pulled it out to have a look - it didn't leak and was the cleanest inside. So, off with the paint! I will use this one and keep puttering with the black tank. Forward ho!

The tanks and petcocks are tough...
no go on handlebars here...mine are pitted and need replaced.

I need to start digging through everything to see what I have. Don't even know how to sell the bike and parts to recoup some of the funds... good at sinking money into them and stockpiling parts for the rebuild before I set forward with the work.

I do have a chromed fender that was an aftermarket nos item...was going to rebuild it more like a cb95.
It is a fairly basic fender.

if there were not a little red paint sticking to acrevise in the one shot I would swear you were pulling our legs with a NOS tank you found somewhere. It is hard work stripping the early paint...they must have baked it on as they are nothing like the 70 s bike paints and none of the normal modern paints.

The bike was black when I got it so I think I should stay with black. However they do look so nice in red too. Cliff.
