Tail Lamp Lens Removal
«
on:
May 03, 2018, 08:25:02 PM »
Hi all
I have a 75 CB550 with a burnt out brake light bulb. For the life on me I cannot remove the lens without destroying the lens. Yes I have removed the four fasteners helping to hold it on. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you
Mark

Spray some wd40 around the perimeter and let it soak for a bit.

^^+1 most likely the 40-year old gasket, or maybe some PO shenanigans.
Heat, and a butter knife, under the edge....

Yep, they stick badly. Be careful, I have cracked more than one trying to pry it off.

PO shenanigans or @ss clown at work. Got it off without damage thanks to folks recommending a solvent to soften the nonfactory sealant used to secure the lens.

Sealant? On a plastic lens?
I don’t understand people sometimes.
