CB750 paddock stand/rear stand
« on: March 31, 2017, 04:01:37 PM »
Gents, hard to find info on bobbins for the CB750 K4. I have heard of longer shockie bolts or hooks onto swing arm. Any advice?

I think people just run the slider bobbins with a longer bolt

don't really work very good with these bikes unless you hack up some stuff to add bobbins.  The swingarm is shaped odd and there is a bunch of brake stays and #$%* in the way.  I just keep an old centerstand and a well polished and lubed pin handy.  Pop it on quick for rear wheel service.  No need to fiddle with the return spring.  Whip it back out when you are done.
If it works good, it looks good...

I'd like to find a rear stand that works well with an unmodified swingarm. My exhaust prevents using the center stand, it's annoying to remove and replace the exhaust when I need it on a stand.

I recently added spools to the swing arm on my 550. I just drilled and tapped to an M6. Spools I got from eBay for like $7. My paddock stand from Cycle Gear works very well, can't see a Pitbull working any better.

If you want me to take a couple pictures let me know.

Would like to see those pics. At my stage of life, getting on the centre stand is now a drama!

That's too bad. I forget about those things.

Dave do the spools sit even with the bottom of the swingers or hang below a bit? I don't have them or the new stand in my hands yet but it looks like location of the spool will need to be well thought out.

This answer your question?

It took like 5 minutes to place them. I just wanted to be sure each spool is placed on the same spot on either side. A couple measurements with a dial caliper and it's pretty much perfect.

With the stock 4-4 you'll have to fab up a custom mount most likely. It can be done but will take some fabbing.

That looks like it was meant to be Dave! And darn autocorrect put "swingers" instead of swingarm. Not sure how that happened because I honestly don't live that sort of lifestyle and I don't have any gold jewelry or chains.

Dave do you happen to know the diameter of the base of those spools?
