1977 CB750k Rear Wheel Collar Spacer Gap? Is this normal?
« on: May 18, 2012, 06:07:44 PM »
Hi Everyone,

In final assembly and there is a gap behind the collared spacer that goes in behind inside the the sprocket carrier.
Is this normal?  Looks like there should be something behind there.
Parts fich says no, but has anyone encountered this?  Dosen't seem right??
Any help welcome....

Sometimes when you put the sprocket back in the wheel the rubber cushions hang up a bit holding the sprocket carrier further out...looks like that happened

Checked it out, and the Sprocket Hub is past flush inside the carrier , I am confident that is is as far in as it should be.
The difference that the collar slides in is far greater than the sprocket hub could possibly go into the wheel.
Any other ideas?  Thanks!

Yes , you have the shorter 69-76 spacer in there ... in a 77 or78 carrier.
Late motors need the longer sprocket carrier, the early ones  a short one.

Damn, you are like Yoda.  I think you called it.  I attached picts.  Looks like a shorter one.
I did not know, not sure if I did that when I got a new used wheel and tire. Either way I was riding it like that for a while... oops.
At least now I can do it right.  THANKS!!

Here is he one I am gonna buy:

Hi timbalish, any chance of you posting the dimensions of the new and old spacers when you get the new '77 one? I think I might have the same setup as you.

Cheers
