Upgrading electronics under the seat (CB750K2)
« on: May 17, 2012, 03:30:39 PM »
I want to clean up and upgrade the electronics under the seat (regulator, rectifier, fuse block, etc.)  I have a NOS wiring harness, and purchased a solid state regulator/rectifier and new blade-style fuse block.  I'm trying to get some ideas on how people have integrated these newer components under the seat to improve reliability and get a clean, functional look.

If you really want to clean it all up, and don't mind dropping about $400, look at a Motogadget M-Unit. I used this on my cafe bike and it works great. The unit is about the size of an iPhone and it combines the turn signal, horn, tailight, brake, starter, headlight, accessory relays together. It also has an alarm feature built into it. Read up on it at Motogadget's website because I'm sure there is a few things I missed. You also could toss the fuse box, because it takes care of that too.

Holy smoke, Matt.  That Motogadget M-unit is insane!  It looks like it eliminates the wiring harness, as well.  That certainly provides the cleanest look under the seat, but it's a little bit too much (makes the parts I've already sourced obsolete).

I'm looking for a happy medium that allows me to keep the harness, solid state regulator/rectifier, blade fuse box and some OTHER upgraded components in a CLEAN looking installation.

Any other tips??
