First Central Illinoisian Member?
« on: April 11, 2012, 09:44:16 AM »
I didn't see anyone on the Member Map in my neck of the woods...

Anyway! I just recently bought a 1978 CB750K that has been in storage for 20 years, and aside from the TTR90 I monkeyed around on when I was 13, this is my very first bike. I have big ideas for it and hope to eventually complete them all, but as for now I want to learn as much as i can about it and get it in working condition  (since it probably isn't).

If anyone is interested in my plans feel free to ask. Otherwise, glad to be here!

I think you could be into a few more hours..,but it may be in good shape internally and that would be a plus  :)

so as it turns out, the gas tank is covered in rust on the inside, as well as the final chain, chain guard, some electrical business on the left side, and probably a bunch of other stuff..

OH, and the engine is seized up.

i expected all this though, and im still excited, but i will be reading a lot of the FAQ section and might even get around to asking a question or two of my own.

its a bit dim, but with those other pics and this one you can tell a little of what time has done to my new child.

upon further inspection tonight i discovered my front brake caliper is gone-zo. now i know people suggest goldwing and cbr front ends for any sort of upgrading, but i dont have that many bones right now, so a replacement caliper would be idea for now.

anyway, im tired. so if anyone has suggestions or any flavor of help id be entirely grateful.

That bike in your area. I would expect to replace the rims also I bet lots of rust under that rubber.
MMO in each cylinder and let it sit.
