Topic: Should this be moving??

Hi folks,
I have a cb750 K2 '72 that I've been fettling for some time. This evening I jacked up my front wheel and it wouldn't spin at all. So I tried various things like loosen it a bit like undo the 2 bolts on the 'fixed' caliper, and the wheel does spin, tighten them again, and the wheel locks up. I tried by adjust the caliper adjuster screw but the effect was not even slight. I took the adjuster bracket off for inspection and noticed it doesn't swivel on the pin at all. Should this be the case?? I tried to extract the pin but it's rock solid. Is that normal??







Would appreciate any help.

It is supposed to swivel freely. Remove, clean and grease.

You may want to heat it with a heat gun or hairdryer, and try and get it to at least swivel before wailing on the pin.

The bracket is aluminum and the pin is steel so heat should help.

thanks guys, took me about 5-6 hours and a lot of heating and wailing, but I finally got the pin out this evening. Neither the pin nor the hole look damaged in any way, which makes it even more mysterious as to why it was so stubborn. But I will take it to my mate Dave The Lathe and he can put the pin in his lathe and see if it's true as well as clean it up alittle as well as the holding bracket.

Steel will seize to aluminum from environmental exposure, chemical reaction, forget the name of it. Unavoidable. Just take some emory paper to the pin, fresh ORings, some waterproof grease, and back in biz.
