Since a lot of folks use ATF in the forks, and Automatic Transmission Conditioner/Stop Leak is made to soften and condition seals, why not just buy a small bottle of a fore mentioned conditioner.  Since the treatment is normally meant to treat a full transmission with 7 or 8 quarts of ATF, the small bottle would do a whole lot of forks.  Maybe clean the seals first with your choice of the aforementioned methods the add an eye dropper or so of ATF conditioner to each side?   Not that I ever tried it, but it seems logical.

At cyclegear if you have one nearby, they sell a tool called sealmate. Its basically a piece of thin plastic with a little hook on the end.

Yes, or you can take a soda bottle and cut a piece out of it with a pair of sissors (I'm too cheap to buy a piece of colored plastic for 6 bucks) ;)
