Hello! I've wanted to learn to ride for some time now, but I finally took the plunge and completed the BRC earlier this month. A few weeks later I found a sweet CB400f on craigslist, met up with the owner, and couldn't pass up on the deal he offered me.
Some of my friends think I'm crazy (and they might be right), but I've always liked the old CBs. The classic look is timeless, and the purposeful UJM design really appeals to me.
As for my particular CB, I love it, and I'm optimistic that it will prove to be a good find. The previous owner is a really nice guy who restored the bike himself. It isn't perfect cosmetically, and the headers are aftermarket (they aren't as sexy as the original Honda design), but everything works, and it seems to run well. Now, I just have to keep it that way, and the PO has even offered to help me out with some of the maintenance, such as the requisite valve adjustment it will need at the end of the summer.
I'll almost certainly be taking him up on that offer, but this site seems like a real repository of knowledge regarding these machines, so I hope you all don't mind if I try to tap into that while learning how to care for my bike.
