Hello from South Africa
« on: May 17, 2012, 01:34:21 PM »
Hi there!

So right off the bat, I am a noob of sorts, living in Durban, South Africa.

I have a couple of newer bikes but love older bikes and have been day-dreaming of picking up a project bike for a while aaaand so I am the proud but nervous owner of a '73 CB500 K2. She's running with licencing papers (quite a thing to find here) but she's a pile right now and I know it may well nearly kill or bankrupt me or both but I wanna try save her!

My grandfather, his brothers and my uncles have had a few CB's through the years (mostly before I was around) and I just love them for what they are and what they did for modern-day motorcycles!

Anyway, I am going to be trawling through everything I can find on here whilst I very slowly try to get her back to something decent. I called myself a noob because I've never restored a bike before and I have no clue what I should be cleaning/sanding/painting with or how to do it correctly but I'm keen to go at it as I can!

From what I've seen I'm pretty sure there are some people around here who can really help me out!

Some other, newer bikes.
