Clubman bars on my 78 750
« on: May 17, 2012, 05:34:10 PM »
So I got a set of clubman bars for my 750 and I'm in the process of sorting out all the wires and cables, etc.. My question is, with these bars am I now required to get shorter clutch/throttle cables? Thanks all- Dan.

Required, No.  Just watch the routing.

You can get shorter cables to have a cleaner look.  -3.5 is good.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

I also recently put club mans on my K5. The clutch cable is no issue but the throttle is another story. Tried 2 or 3 different routes, 1 looked real good but pinched the cable so no go. Best bet is a shorter cable, but from who?

They have the -3.5 clutch cable listed. I have that on the 75. Like Ron said, they will make it for you.

No, I don't. That's why I have super bike bars on my K4. And stock bars on the K8.
I like them for a change...

I love the look of the clubman bars but I am too old for them. My custom Harley had straight bars and they looked killer. So I rode in pain for years. After a long ride from Myrtle Beach to Charolet and back I could barely walk and no amount of Advil would have helped.  Since then I have blown out two discs in my lower back.  Like I said, no clubman bars for me.  Most days I consider myself lucky if I can stand and walk let alone ride a bike.  In fact I rode six, count them, six miles yesterday. That is the most I have been able to ride since 2005. I FEEL A COME BACK!!

You would probably really benefit by wearing a kidney belt under your shirt.
If you cannot find one the right size try a weight lifting belt. It helps a lot.

When I was 24 and racing motorcycles the rough tracks would really hurt my lower back and kidneys. Just depended on the condition of the track.

+1 on kidney belt. I didnt mind the bouncing when I was younger, but now with 50 close enough, I can tell the belt makes a difference.

I've got clubmans on my 72 CB750. I like them other than the fact of the amount of pressure on my right wrist. I still have the stock cables. I will post pics tommorow of the routing tommorow if you like.

your forearms are going to feel the difference until you get used to them i had  to take mine off it was to painful for me since my wreck my left shoulder and back couldn't take the pressure on them.

Will do! I just got home form a 12 hour day and my camera phone is a little whack. I will do it in the morning where the is more light. I cracked the lens on my camera phone, insurance I don't think will cover it,but it still works! I'm really happy with the outcome on the clubmansand have had no problems.

I hope these help you out. Like I said I am real happy with them. The banjo sits nice. The bars and mirrors and a set of grips. I bought on ebay. For the life of me I can't remember the sellers name, I think the price for all 3 was 53.00 dollars. I ended up scrapping their grips for some different grips I got from Dennis Kirk, they were only 11.00 and were open ended which worked out great for the bar end mirrors. For a small amour of cash and a couple hours worth of work it was all worth is
