Glass Bead in oil tank
« on: May 19, 2012, 08:20:36 AM »
Any thoughts on the best ay to ensure that glass bead has been purged from an oil tank on a 750? I had an incident after aqua blasting hich has led to another rebuild. everything seems fine, but I now come to the oil tank. How do I ensure that no glass bead remains in there? I will of course rinse it ith hot water and blast it with compressed air, but what else? I am considering using fuel tank sealer, but wonder what other issues this could cause, any thoughts?

Tank sealer? No way! IF it comes loose you are hosed.

I had this mess in my oil tank

Many flushes with kerosene in my parts washer then air blasts.

I wouldn't use a sealer. On another thread this came up and the issue of heat was raised. Gas tank sealer won't hold up to the heat. But more importantly its not needed.

Plug all holes, use kerosene or parts cleaner and swish drain swish drain and repeat.

Good points, how does the oil circuit look, is the filter after the oil tank?
