quick top end bolt question
« on: May 18, 2012, 02:04:42 PM »
My question is in the process of redoing my top end I got the cam tower blots and the cam cap blots mixed up, the slightly longer one has a lower case b and the other a circle with a line threw it. Can somebody tell me what bolt goes to what part?

My guess is the longer one is the holder bolt, the shorter one is the bearing cap bolt.

For sure i can say the bearing cap bolt is 60mm (motogrid.com fish)  long measured from under the flange to its end. The other one is the holder bolt. Its more special (I think its harder) so its length is not on the fish.

That's not a "b", its a "9".  The circle with the line is an 8.

ISO bolts get harder as you go up. Maybe they all do?

This pic may help.  The 9 bolt appears to be the longer of the two.  You can see it in the middle of the cam tower.  The 8 bolts are securing the caps.
