Topic: Stock fork leg length for CB550

I got replacement fork legs from CycleX for my '77 CB550F, and some members here wanted me to post the length of the stock fork legs when I did the replacement.  So...stock fork leg length is 22 1/2" even.  Replacements from CycleX are 21 13/16".  Stock fork leg is on bottom in pic below.

noob question, but I didn't see any listings on cyclex for 550 fork tubes.  Are the 750 and 550 the same size tubes?

No I don't think they are.  The 550 fork tubes are kinda buried in the website, someone here was kind enough to link it for me.  I'll see if I can't scrounge the link up and repost it.

Just so I'm clear did you order stock and they sent the shorter ones?

These are the only ones they had listed for the CB550.  They said "stock replacement", but yes, they are shorter.  Everything bolted back together ok though, and there's only about an inch difference, so I'm not too worried about any performance issues.

Shorty Yea I think you will be fine. There have been many post about them being 1 inch off on all there tubes. I just wanted you to confirm so when I order I need to order 1 in shorter than stock. Thanks for the answer.
