Terry, the German tire Heidenau, is not readily available here in the States. As with most German products, I would bet it is a very good tire.
I also have Bridgestone BT45's, recently put them on my K4. Great tire.
Yeah mate, my recently aquired BMW has a Heidenau on the rear, I don't know that much about the bike but I believe it was a private import from "Ze Fatherland", or maybe Britain, but I'm guessing the tire was sourced overseas because I haven't seen Heidenau's here in Oz either.
It seems to work OK, there's a newish Bridgestone on the front that I don't recognise either but they work well together, the only "pants schidting" moment I had was when I was cranking into a corner and hit a small pile of loose volcanic rock that some thoughtful road worker had left in the apex of the bend for me. It wouldn't have mattered what tire was on the bike at this stage, but it just gave a little wiggle and continued on it's way.
Skinny tires don't look as cool as "fatties", but are great for plowing thru loose gravel.
