Which bike you working on Terry ?

I bought a Honda VTR1000 sports bike a couple of months ago mate, loved the engine, hated the riding position, so found a crashed one that I could build into a "streetfighter" with a more upright riding position.

I've had to do a frame swap as the crashed bike has had the VIN cancelled, which has been quite a lot of "fiddly" work, but I should have it all back together today. There will be lots of smaller jobs before it's ready for the road, and I'm still waiting for some parts to arrive, but it's getting there. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Thanks mate, the plastics were destroyed in the crash, I bought another top triple from Germany so I could install some superbike bars, and of course raising the height of the bars entailed buying longer brake and clutch hoses etc, but it looks like the wiring for the switch blocks won't have to be extended, which is good.

It won't need a fairing at all, but I've ordered a small fairing/headlight/blinker unit to tidy up the front end. Cheers, Terry. ;D

The footpegs are in a more sensible place for comfort on the Firestorm than the early Suzuki TL1000.

Lostboy, there are multiple uses of the term rimming, might want to check urban dictionaries or other sources

You sure you want to go with that?

lol yes, that's why it's so funny.

I don't feel it's necessary to explain my need to be heard. It's totally unpresidented of you to ask.

"Un Presidented" Don? Is that's what's happening to Obama next month? You know, when (Ronald Mc) Donald Trump takes over? Thank God I've got one Christmas left........... ;D

It's a Trumpism he tweeted to the folks that nabbed the water drone.  I thought everyone knew that new word.

Nice looking Bike.

Thanks Bobby, it should be a fun bike to ride, I really do love those big "L" twins, it has a ton of torque, and my other VTR1000 (in original guise) handles really well, and with 6 piston front calipers (not sure what they're off, I don't think the bike came with them, every other Firestorm I've seen only has 4 piston units) it should stop really well too.

Good news is that apart from the hydraulic hoses and a few other little bits it's just about done, even that unsightly muffler will be replaced with another Yoshimura unit that I found on eBay. Sadly it's a left muffler, (like mine, the owner dropped his bike on the right hand side and wrecked the right one) but I've pulled both of his mufflers apart to make one good right one out of the two.

I'm doing all my work out in the driveway at the moment with no shade, so I've had to come inside for a break after only 4 hours in todays 85 deg F weather, because I could feel my arms burning, (in the gap between my forearms and T shirt sleeves) and I was getting pretty dehydrated. I'll sneak back out later this evening and do a little more work once it cools down a little, as it's supposed to be raining tomorrow. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Nice work and it will be worth it. You should rig a tarp to shield you from the sun. get a fan in there and it's a summer home.

Ha ha, well Bobby and I are "Originals" from the "CB750 Only" Greenspun days mate, so we were both members long before 2005, and I don't know if our thread counts were transferred over back then, or if we started afresh. Regardless, verbal diarrhea or not, it's been a great place to hang out, even if we've had to lower ourselves and talk to the lesser SOHC 4 owners............. ;D

Yes, I know Terry, just having a bit of fun...I was one of a first 100 of a mailing list years and years ago that started at Univ of Rochester (NY) and grew to 1ks of members worldwide for a car faternity of sorts.  Lots of talkative and knowledgeable folks there too.
Figured that was a artificial date.
