A different kind of Vintage..
« on: June 19, 2006, 11:52:40 AM »
THIS weekend, we went to vintage Racing at Grattan Raceway, in beautiful (Rural) Grattan , Mi, about 1/2 hr east of Grand Rapids. Watching, I decided I could probably never be a racer! These guys were going Balls to the wall! There were a lot of '60s and 70's Hondas, a lot of Italian and Jap racers, but the bikes where it seemed that people were really screaming on were Triumphs! A LOT of "Ton Uppers" there! Beautiful place!

AHRMA?  That actually looks like a friends bike. He races a 37 Scout.  He told me about going around the banks at Daytona- hard to imagine.  We also have some BSA, Guzzi, and Beemer racers around here.  I think the Guzzi riders are the fastest people I've ever waved goodbye to. Anyway, many of them go up to MI. I should ask...
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

I went to a vintage race a few weeks ago and expected only the bikes would be vintage.....NOT SO! The guy that got second in the 500cc class was 84 years old! And they were going flat out on a street track, elbow to elbow. They pretended they were not scared of the lamposts at the side of the road either. ::)
