Points and continuity
« on: May 20, 2012, 01:06:34 PM »
I have continuity between both points weather they are open or closed. When I take the plate off, there is only continuity between them when they are open. With the plate off, I have continuity  between the two wires that go to my coils (yellow and blue). When I hook a test light up to the springs on my points, it stays on wether the points are open or closed. What's up? Should there be continuity between the yellow and blue coil wires?

You need to set the meter on ohms X 1000 scale.

Yes, the other ends of both coil primaries, the black wires, are connected together under the gas tank.
