K0 carb sync procedure?
« on: May 20, 2012, 03:39:35 AM »
I plan on hooking up my vacuum gauges to my 1970 cb750 today.  I have never synced a four cable carb setup before, what is the proper procedure?  Also the individual idle screws, how do you get them set equal to each other?

Get the shop manual here: http://www.honda4fun.com/materiale-documentazione-tecnica/shop-manual
The procedure is explained within. I've never done a K0 myself, but it doesn't look too difficult.

I sync the high speed first at 3,000 RPM. Once that is set I do the low speed with the idle screws. Be sure to put a good fan on the motor to prevent overheating.

So let me get this straight, you adjust the cables for the high speed and the idle screws for the low?  I just set the low on my bike today and thought it ran really good, how much of a difference will it make if I skipped the high speed adjustment?

It could make a significant difference depending upon when the cables lift each slide off the idle stop. This is why you should check the high end as well. You might be lucky and they all lift evenly. Not likely though which is one of the short comings of the early 4 cable design and they tend to get out of sync more so than the later models do to minor cable length changes from use.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Agreed....you may as well do it right if you want to be sure it is dialed in.
