Tail / Turn Ideas With Tracker Fender
« on: April 12, 2010, 06:24:40 PM »
Any ideas appreciated, I'm pre-fitting , fabbing , modding all my parts before I formally start this build. I plan on riding it this summer and will take her down to the frame this winter and in theory it should go back together quickly if all parts are tested and ready. wont happen will it ?
Here is my idea, it will be a semi tracker theme, I got this great seat pan and do not want just a light hanging off of it, no signals visible either. My plan is to enclose the rear of the pan somehow with clear plastic, maybe like an office ceiling light fixture, with texture. Very roughly where I have the tape my thought is to enclose a box with amber and red led's arranged where they are visible from all angles. Maybe terraced or stair stepped. I have access to some edge material from the sign shop where I work that should conceal  or blend the edges.
Any thoughts ? Thanks for looking ! Wait till ya'll see my headlight ideas !
Found this bike in completely stock condition in Feb. 08. Paid over twice what my new one cost 30 years ago. Am trying to re-create the look of the late 70's Drag Bike styling.More later. 4-2-10 It ain't stock any more and I have no idea what I am trying to create !

Welcome apetersonboy to the Forums ! That pan and many others are available on e-bay and other places. Just google flat tracker seat/fender. I actually never used that one, most of them are made for much more narrow frames. The 750 is about 8" in the front at the rear of the gas tank. For the time being I'm using a glass seat that matches my K8 tank that fits the frame. I'll try to post a link.

Thanks! I'm working on a build of my own. Its a 1978 cb750f SS that I want to turn into a gnarly looking off-road looking bike but with bits of street tracker in it (the seat mainly). Thanks for the reply, how do you mate the seat up with your frame?

This fellow is where I bought the seat pan in the picture from, tell him I sent you !
What I had to do was cut the pan and spread the front to 8" from 6" and then re-glass it, easy work. This dude makes stuff for the racers, nice quaulity!
Good Luck on your project !

I've done a lot of things in my life that I'm not proud of...and the things I AM proud of, "are disgusting"

Thanks a lot! This'll help. I know this is totally off topic and I should probably just start a new thread, but I've seen a lot of cafe racers (cb750's) that don't have the stock oil tank; or an oil tank at all! I can't find any info on how you can run your engine with out one. Do you just plug up the holes where the lines go into the engine or what? I'm so lost
