550 prices on the rise?
« on: May 21, 2012, 02:24:54 PM »
So I check for 550's in 3 states every day, last week I come across one in OK shape, the man is wanting 2500, I'm thinking that this is a kinda high, today there is more and they are more expensive. He's gonna sit on those for a while ,said I. So I keep looking and then there's a 78 K for $5000. WTF,  have I spent too much time in the shop or has the prices really gone up that high, do they really sell at that price around the country?
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.

It's also kinda the beginning of riding season, so prices will be a bit higher now than in the fall.. Ebb and flow.  These bikes are trending in general, however.  Prices for all '70s Honda CB's seem to be rising as they regain popularity.

There is a guy here in Seattle asking $2800 for a CB400T! talk about rising prices! He claims its collectible. If it were a 400F I could see it.

Yeah I think the labor and parts are what's going crazy and causing the prices of good running bikes to go up. I've got at least $3K into mine (Shh don't tell my wife) and still not done with it. Next time I would gladly pay $2500 for a good complete low mile runner in good original shape.
