I went through that on my other 750 and don't want to again. I tested the tank after stripping it. I put baby powder down all the seems and filled it with gas, no leaks that I saw. Maybe the liner was precautionary?

Had off and on rain showers today so no primer. Unfortunately I'm at the weather's mercy when it comes to painting. I finished prepping my frankenstuff side covers and drilled holes for emblems. Hopefully I'll have some clear skies soon.

Gauges are back together. I figured I should get these on the bike before before I mount the headlight and start the wiring. That way I'm not scratching up the headlight bucket trying to get these in.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to see how these come out too. This'll be my first candy paint job and from what I've read the color really depends on how many coats you do of the candy over the silver base. Luckily I have some originals too compare color to.

Thanks! New gauge faces, bezels, glass and rings are from Marcel at www.cb750faces.com. I repainted the tips of the needles orange. Take your time taking them apart, just slowly go around the ring with a screwdriver blade prying little by little. Putting them back together was the hardest for me, you've got to rig up the gauges on a vice to keep them from moving and go around with a punch to pinch down your new ring.

Got some primer on the tank after work tonight. Looks like rain this weekend, again, though. No painting again  .

Rainy weather and urethane paint have no problem together. Unless you are painting outside or some makeshift that rain will directly effect, rain will not have an effect on the paint itself.

The weekend won't be a total loss. I'll get the primer sanded and if there's a lull in the rain maybe I'll hook up my manometer and sync the carbs.

Well, I got a little impatient. The weather has been crap every weekend keeping me from being able to paint so in the interim I threw on the original tank and side covers. It's not 100% finished but it's rideable. Hopefully I'll get to painting soon!
