79 honda cb400 t
« on: May 15, 2012, 03:07:37 PM »
I've been working on my 79 CB 400 t for a few years trying to get it running, my father recently gave me his bike which is an 81 CB 400 A that i thought needed only some TLC, and the throttle off my 79, got the 81 running good but when in gear would barley move, so i thought maybe i can put the 2 together and have a good bike. but now that i have everything together it seems the the timing chain is slipping, every thing looks good, i don't think the chain is stretched and the gears aren't worn. I put everything together and hit the starter, she wants to start but there is this clicking sound, pull the valve cover off and the timing is off 2-3 teeth on the top gear, fix and the same thing happens. its starting to make me a lil mad.

if anyone has any ideas please share them

Have you set the cam chain tensioner right?
