Topic: Older honda...does your leak some oil?

I was just curious ...is it normal for some older hondas  to leak a few spots of oil after a ride? Or are these bikes suppost to be leak free?

It is not normal for them to mark their spot.  Though age does make them weep or creep some at a seam or two.

A lot of us with original motors that have not been touched do have the infamous head gasket weep. We call it a weep as is it minor. Speaking for myself that is the only place I have it. No oil on the floor. The general rule is to not mess with it unless it gets bad or you have another issue that warrants pulling the motor from the frame.

As stated in the other post small leakage may be acceptable but normally a dry engine is to be expected

Only when my oil pump "o" rings went (well one of the three) but was enough to drop down near the side stand when parked.  Fixed the "o" rings and no more leaking.  Accept for the weeping at the head gasket that Johnie described but that is not really a leak it is just merely annoying.

Mine only leaks when it needs fixed. They don't leak.

I just noticed when I parked it the first time I rode it it was leaking some drops few dime spots...stopped though.

Try to find out where the leak is coming from.  It could be from the shifter shaft seal.  Just a guess.

The important thing is where does it leak from? Some leaks are more serious than others. Is it overflowing through the breathers?
