And in this corner is the fighter know as AIRBOX

Is there any easy way to install one of these or do they suck every time?  The tubes never want to stay on the carbs, the clamps don't get very tight and basically the are a major pain.  Could it be that I have the wrong airbox?  I have a 76 CB750K and the box says 750F on it.

I can pull the bowls, remove the floats, pull the jets, clean them and replace it all faster than I can install this stupid airbox from hell.

If your tubes are old and stiff it is indeed a pain.
New more squishy boots make it tremendously easier!
Also, the original clamps stretch. I had to replace mine.

750F on the airbox... that's right.  The F there just stands for Filter.  ;)

All the air boxes say 750F on them.

Replacing the old, stiff, rubber intakes helps. :)

I have read a lot of people saying this. I just don't know mine is very easy to get off and on it is a 78 750 k. Maybe some are harder than others. Just a couple of bolts and clamps and done. Same with the carbs just add a couple of cables. I guess the 78s are just a lot easier. It is what it is :) It's called wrenching for a reason

on my K8 they slide in easiest from the right side.  less things in the way.
intake rubbers are cheap, and they slide onto the carb body easier when pliable, round, and not all smashed to hell.
got my new set for ~$40 shipped.

I have new rubbers on order.  I will but new clamps too.    My rubbers are so stiff they cant come out of the box so they have to be installed as a unit.  I never had anything to compare them to so I thought they were supposed to be stiff.  Doh!!

Yeah I was surprised when I got the new ones. The are very squishy. Much easier to get the parts out & in... and they'll seal up really nice as well!
My old ones were also split and ripped badly.

Also... the rubbers that connect the carbs to the engine... sadly now unavailable. :( However they are thick walled, and a soaking in Wintergreen oil has been proven to soften them up. :) Which is also beneficial to carb installation and removal.. and even more so to the running of your engine... with a good airtight seal. :)
