In 2004 I organized the SOHC Easy Rider Trip (see easyridertrip.de) and had 10 riders start off from LAX and about half of use made it to New Orleans.

A few bike trips later (Japan, Canada, USA) and Ive decided to revisit my homeland for a short motorcycle tour (and see my family). Plan at the moment is to fly from Boston to Scotland at the end of May, rent a bike for 5 days (cheap rates) and do a Scottish Castle Tour that will involve dramatic beautiful scenery (think Braveheart and Rob Roy; real castles, mountains and lochs), amazing roads and very friendly people. The food isnt too bad either ;). Costs will be kept as low as possible by staying in Youth Hostels (good scenic places, clean and friendly) and you will have two expert guides (myself and my Scottish biker friend) to show you the best motorcycle roads Scotland has to offer.

This is open to anyone (any age) with an interest in motorcycle touring and who wants to see something different. Should have basic motorcycle experience and be able to ride in the rain with appropriate gear (just in case ;)).

PM me for further details.

cheers
Andy

That sounds like a real blast. Something I would love to do if it were only possible for me.  Since my heritage is Scottish, Welsh, English, and French, this would be a little like a geneology tour for me. But alas, I am having a hard difficult time just finding the $ & time to do the Full BRP, Cherohala Pkwy, & Dragon's Tail ride that I hope to do this summer & that is only 4 days long. I know I would have a great time there with Andy leading the way as pathfinder. Just watch out for the animals on the roads there. For all that can make it, I wish you a great adventure & fun riding !

Andy,

Sounds fantastic and I'll ride with you anyday. It would be an honor. However, my 2012 is booked. Leaving Sunday to Palau for diving with a 2 day layover in Honolulu. I'm calling it my 2012 Divorce Victory Tour.  ;D  That shoots my $$$ all to hell. Attempting to plan August riding. Probably Sturgis for a partial week and the dreaded southwest again  ;) ;D . However 2013 is still open. Any way to make a quick excursion to a pub in Ireland so I may get drunk with clan Griffin?? Whether or not we would be direct relatives is irrelavent, it's the drinking that counts. Great grandfather immigrated to the US. I've never been to Ireland and I'd love to take my then 16 year old daughter to the homeland.

Good bags!

Dates are looking like:

Leave Boston Friday 18th May arrive Saturday 19th May in Glasgow at 1pm.

Pick up bikes either Sunday or Monday.

Drop off bikes either Friday or Saturday.

Fly back to Boston 27 May 2012.

Will confirm once  hear back from Stevie in Glasgow and I hear back from the bike shop about the rentals.

cheers
Andy

Andy - I have a trip to Scotland in me - someday, but not now - to visit my grandparents stomping grounds. To make it into an MC journey would be .... awesome! 8)

I hope you will you be putting up a ride report afterwards.

Tell me, will you be anywhere near the Pentland Firth?
