Topic: triple tree interchangle question

apparently i bought the wrong triple tree.  a 1980 cb650 is single disc and the tree is too narrow for my 82 which is dual.  looks like 81 is the one i needed as that bike is dual disc as well.  (stupid me for trusting the sellers description) never can find an 81 listed anywhere.

am i right in this thinking? also does anyone know which bike this part is actually from? its definately not from the bike listed.

ok it looks like that triple belong originally to a 700S.

the guy said he had checked the vin on the bike with the dealer and thats how he figured it as a 650sc.


anyone know if a 700s may fit? or if the 700s was dual disc?

An 81 -82 cb650c 0r an 81-82cb650sc nighthawk
         front end
   {dual disc } will fit. also the cb750c and sc
     models for the same
         years...

A 82 nitehawk should be the wame width but the handlebars mount diff I believe and I know the gauges mount diff.   A standard will be narrower. A 80 custom will be narrower also.

yeah my 82 nighthawk has retarded handlebar mounts which is what im trying to change:)

well i won that auction. the seller measured it and it measures the same as mine.. I geuss I'll find out at the end of the week.


on a side note i bought one of those nautlus horns (the really loud ones)  and they are really loud...
