Polishing Exhaust

Hey guys,
Quick question for you, I was wondering what would be the preferred way to clean some surface rust/polish the exhaust on my CB550F? I did do a search, found a number of helpful tips for the rest of my bike, but nothing specific to the exhaust (I read somewhere not to use a wax based polish on the exaust, for if I didn't get it all off, it will turn them blue).  Thanks in advance!

Use Naval Jelly to remove the rust without scratching the chrome.

I may be being stupid here, but isn't the headers/exhaust stainless?

Electrolysis worked fairly well for me for the 4-4 550k pipes.  There're a number of websites that explain how.  Slight surface rust probably would be easier to use a mild abrasive on instead.
