Does anyone have experience with this trunk? I'm looking at getting one for my 750 in order to make it a better commuter type bike.

I'm wondering of I should get the medium or large size. The extra size of the large would be nice but I'm afraid it may look too large/out of proportion on the back of my K6. The medium looks like it would work okay but if the large could work I would prefer it. The trunk will be mounted to this luggage rack:

I think you should get the one that is the best size for the suff you need to carry and don't worry about how it looks. When you go out on the weekend and don't need it, take it off with one key as the add seems to say.

You could take a large piece of cardboard and try and (roughly) trace the dimensions of the large trunk. Cut it out and have someone hold it by your bike. If you can visualize it and it looks way too big, get the medium.

The large one will hold two full face helmets. I like mine.

yeah, i say screw looks. if you're traveling you'll need to tote whatever you need, and you'll just be frustrated if you can't. nothing is worse than not having enough beer with you.

I guess one of the issues is that I don't exactly know how much stuff I will want to carry. I know I would like to be able to fit my lunch box and maybe some clothes to change into for work. As much as I want to say "screw looks", I don't want to feel like an idiot going down the road in the motorcycling equivalent of a pickup truck with a camper in the bed, you know? I'd rather look like an intelligent communter (with great taste in motorcycles!) I'm trying not to overpower the styling of the bike.

Geez, how cool would that be, owning a bike that makes you look like "an intelligent commuter with great taste in motorcycles"? I think I'd like a bike that makes me look slimmer, with a quirky sense of humor? Can I really get all this from the JC Whitney catalogue?

On a side note, I am considering stepping up to a matching set of panniers and trunk for a more touring oriented setup (as long as they don't make my butt look to big!).

Just narrow it down to the most important things. If it can hold either a full-face helmet or a 12-pack it's big enough.

Ha ha, I think I bought my Harley so I'd look tough and slightly threatening, but when I look at those old pics now, it just looks like me sitting on a Harley? Kinda disappointing, really............

These bikes can look very classy with luggage- I'd like to see Gordons.

I've got a decent set of pacifico hard bags, but no brackets. Probably going to have to fab brackets- like looking for a needle in a haystack.

I personally like the shape of the Vetter trunk, but those hideous tail lights... Madmtnmotors trunk is good looking too.

I have thought about bags. I have a couple sets here but I would need to fab up the brackets. Plus they don't fit something like a helmet or a gallon of milk. The top case is more appealing because it can be removed quickly with just the key.

Just thought I would update this to say that I ended up buying the large trunk. It has just enough room for my stuffed backpack and a lunchbox. Had to go on ebay to get it though since it was NLA on JC whitney. Yeah, it hampers the classic looks some but I've deffinitely put a lot more miles on the bike beacuse of it's increased usefulness.

Nice! I've always held functionality above all else. If it looks good doing it then you've hit a home run! I've had the trunk on mine for so long I think it would look odd without it.

When I picked up my 550 last summer it had this ugly trunk on it.
Took it off right away...

But this summer, since it's been my daily rider I put it back on (sans red web bungee) and I use it all the time for... extra tools of course are always nice to have but also a few spare parts, rain gear, etc. My computer in it's bag lays in there perfectly.

Shopping and running errands is much nicer too...

The only one's I've seen are aftermarket throw-overs or ancient Craven panniers mate. I've got an R100RS and I thought about modifying a BMW pannier frame to fit a CB750, but concluded that they'd have to sit up too high, and out too wide to clear the 4 into 4 pipes etc. Cheers, Terry.

Here is what I use when I need some cargo capacity...these old Shoei hard bags...they bolt right onto a cb750, and probably a lot of other similar bikes too...certainly no longer available new...but I think there are a lot of 'em out there and I think they look great (or would if I painted 'em to match), so keep your eyes open on ebay, craigslist, and at the swap meets
