CB550F starts but dies with throttle?
« on: June 02, 2012, 06:10:13 AM »
Hi,

After working on the wiring for a good 5 hours with a friend, my bike runs! :) I've been working on the bike for over a year and this is the first time I've heard it running. Was an awesome feeling.

But, It starts and runs like the choke is on, even though the choke is off. And as with a bit of throttle it bogs down. I don't have a tacho on but I would say it's not getting past 2000-3000 rpm.

Carb's were cleaned and I put them back together with new o-rings and gaskets.

I'm running stock carbs, and airbox with a mac 4 into 1.

Where's a good place to start with, to get this sorted out?

WOOHOOO! That is indeed a good milestone.
with the info here, you will get it running right and you will know.

A good place to start from here?
Well the valves and timing are spot on right?
What are all of the settings currently on your carbs?
