Here's my two cents (having owned 4 trailers in my life).....for less money ($1200 on sale this week) you can get a 7 foot by 12 foot single axle utility trailer with both a side ramp/gate and a rear split ramp gate at Tractor Supply.  I've been using one for over then years now.  You can put as many Harbor Freight $39 front wheel locks on it as needed up to 6 bikes total.  If you have something else to do with a trailer, you can pull those off in just a few minutes and haul lumber, drywall, bags of mulch, garden tractor in for service...whatever.  My ultimate preference is and always has been a covered utility trailer, but every time I go to look at one....I'm too late.  For those, I can't afford new, but would gladly buy a used 16 foot double axle.  I've always regretted single purpose trailers after I bought them.

Muck - weight is the big factor. I have an Aluma single bike trailer that weighs 525lbs. It works great but I'd occasionally like to pull 2 bikes. My cars are a Toyota Corolla and a VW Vanagon with a Subaru 2.5 engine. So I have to keep the weight down. The Trinity weighs 425lbs. Problem is, I can't see one before buying.

I cant tell you much about the trinity but i would consider just looking at a small cargo/utility trailer. I have a little 6' x 4' trailer and it works great behind both my old 94 Corolla 1.8L 5spd and my new car 06 Impreza wagon 2.5L 5spd. This little trailer weights in at 400lbs and its built like a tank its 2"x2"x1/8" wall tubing with 1-1/4"x1-1/4"x1/8" cross members. it will do two dirt bikes not problem and with two weights in at about 900lbs almost any car will have at least a 1000lbs tow rating my corolla was 1500lbs and the impreza is 2000lbs.  The real nice thing about a utility trailer like this one is if you loose a tie down and the bike falls over the side wall catches it. on a rail trailer it can fall right off or ive also seen rear wheels hop out of the channel and go through and hit the axle or the road.

Good point.

I would not try to load three road kings on it.

I have a 4 x8 trailer and have three wheel chucks on it, and one time I put 2 bikes on the outside chucks and it was nerve wracking to say the least.  I would get a much larger trailer to pull 2 750 sized bikes or more.  My dad turned a jet ski trailer into a bike trailer and it pulled like a dream.

My Father in Law had one of those trailers. It was a miracle nobody got killed with that POS. He hauled his HD Bagger from Myrtle Beach to our house in CT and after going through the garbage of roads that they call 95 in Ny and NJ he made it to our house where upon entering the driveway the neck snapped clean off. They made them then with 3 tubes joining at the neck, a marvel of engineering ineptness. They shipped him a complete new trailer with a new design where the neck is now a single tube at no cost, gee, wonder why? For that money go get a REAL trailer. If your bikes are not worth crap to you buy a crummy trailer, oh, and while you're at it, go to the Dollar Store and get some tie downs for it too.

I honestly don't know how much the Tractor Supply trailer weighs.  I went out and looked at the mfg sticker and all it has is the gross ratings etc.  I know it's light enough to pull with a Minivan, since a friend of mine borrowed my trailer to move.  Whether pulling with a car or a truck, the distance from the hitch ball to the first axle is important.  It's like the wheelbase on your car etc.  The more distance, the truer the trailer will track,,,,,,especially with some speed or in the wind.  Believe it or not, the longer 'wheelbase' has a beneficial effect when in reverse maneuvers since it's more resistant to jacking.  Weight is also a consideration....heavier trailers will usually track truer.
