Topic: 73 CB350F, runs! but does not run well

Bike has not run since 85 or so, got her running today but it dies when the choke is turned off (I can get to about 90% off and she dies). While sitting on the bike, the far left exhaust exhaust is only warm, the next one is darn hot, the other too are very very warm.

Could be older gas (used the tiller gas which has been sitting a few months) and the sea foam, but I have not messed with points and carbs since about 84. Any skill set I used to have is pretty darn rusty.

I'm hoping the collective wisdom has some pointers for me.

I gotta add, it is quite the thrill to pull bits off, mess with the bike with the impression you are doing good things but not really knowing and having the bike reward you with the happy noise is quite the positive feedback. I'm stoked. Still, a lot of work to go.

Sidebar, engine revs good but the tach does not seem to track with it. I have a new tach cable on hand but it may be in the instrument too.

Time to mess with the carve and timing 

Start by pulling them off, cleaning them with simple green and carb cleaner.  Pull out your main jets and the emulsion tubes under them. Clean the holes. Do the same with the screw out pilot jets. Set your float height. While you are at it, drain and rinse out your tank. New air filter, timing, set your valves and adjust your cam chain.
You know, all the greasy hands busted knuckles stuff outlined in the shop manual for the 3000 mile tuneup.

New jets, but I did not mess with the emulsion tubes or needles. Tank was freshly coated back in 85 - and never put back in the bike. New air filter is ready to go, valves and cam chain not messed with yet.

Oddly enough the one tube I thought might be dirty I pulled the jet this afternoon and hit it with carb cleaner and that is the one that is running hot. Should have done the rest. Taking the damn throttle cables off is the biggest problem with removing the carbs.
