Lighting question
« on: May 31, 2012, 07:22:04 PM »
ok, second time i'm typing this because my computer sucks.

1978 honda cb750k

currently runs and rides fine, issue is i have
A: no gauge lights
B: no rear brake daytime running lights
C: no blinker daytime running lights

I do have:
A: headlight (high and low)
B: brake light while braking functions.

it was not like this before, the lights WERE on all the time, (rear brake and blinker) just on a lower setting.  what am i missing/what is corroded/ broken/failed? slim chance all these lights failed at the same time, right?

i would use the search function but it has seemed to go the way of my lights AKA broken right now.

Have you checked the fuse?

Can you describe the wires from the gauges and what wire colors they are plugged into in the headlight bucket?

all fuses LOOK like they are not blown. don't have the headlight assembly apart, everything is wired correctly as I am the only one that works on the bike, and it was functioning correctly before, and after a while apparently quit on its own.

Answered your own question when you said 'fuses LOOKED o.k.'...... 'looked o.k' unfortunately doesn't pass electrical current. A very good time to shine-up your fuse clips ( really good shine-up ) and then carefully bend the clips towards each other to be sure each fuse end is held tightly in the holder. Replace the 3 fuses( probably 35 yrs. old ) and report back here  ;)
BTW,  Main =15A
Headlight = 7A
Taillight = 5A.
