Tips for Hiding Helmet Hair
« on: May 30, 2012, 11:19:03 AM »
When I take my helmet off for a mid ride coffee or lunch I look like an inbred idiot. When with a bunch of riders thats no big deal as we all look the same.
However sometimes id like to ride my bike somewhere and not look like an idiot when I get there.

Any tips on what to put on your head post ride?
Or even a good place to stash a hat on your bike so it doesnt get munched and covered in dirt?
(i dont wear the super southtern style back pocket foldable hat)

I don't have that problem.  Been shaving the head for 27 years now.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Best question so far this week! :)

However, since most of my hair left me years ago I can't give you much advice. ;)

My heads too lumpy to shave. I'd scare the kids :o
Wear a bandanna, also helps to keep the helmet stank down

I modified a hair dryer to accept 12v. It also required me to upgrade the charging system, and at about 4k rpm's this thing really gets warm.  I also carry a shampoo bottle filled with water and 10% conditioner. At  every stop, I lather, concentrating on the scalp, and blow dry. otherwise, i might look weird.   ;D

I am too old to care - already have all the females I need in my life.

But I shave for summer in VA, just too hot and also for the bicycle.

My spaghetti gets a little out of control as well.  I bought a bandana a while back hoping I could get it all the way around my head and my ears for my half helmet.  It was too small though and the knot in the back ended up under the helmet.  So I just deal with it.  I haven't noticed anyone checking me out lately so I don't really worry about it  :-\

Get your hair just the way you like it, and then clear coat it.
Problem solved.

Or just cut it short enough so it isn't a problem.

I cut my hair mega short to resolve this issue.  Unless you are going somewhere you can dunk your head under a shower or something... not much else you can do.  Also, it is just too hot to add another layer between my head and the helmet.

always park at a hair salon,or keep a comb and clippers under your seat, pluck long nasal hairs aswell, dont forget to trim your nails also as bad nails give motorcyclists a bad rep, under arm deoderant should be used before every ride no matter how short, unkemp beards or moustashes also are unsightly, tuck your shirt in.

Shave it close. Makes for easy hair styling.

I can't even image how much money I have saved on haircuts, shampoo, conditioner, brushes n stuff in the last 27 years.  Even after all that, I still feel like I am broke.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Do you really think someone is going to look at you and care about your hair?  I suppose when you pass a mirror you have to stop and admire yourself.... vain vain vain.  Just ride the damn bike!

The only poon that offered themselves to me when I had hair were the ones that you would not tell anyone about.  Shaving the head was the best thing I ever did.

You got a tank bag? Carry a hat in it. I have a luggage rack/backrest combo that I keep a tailbag on and carry my hat in. At lengthy stops I just switch them out. (Helmet for hat, that is....)  ;)
